I grew up with Christian parents, but not really in a Christian home (if that makes sense). I always attended Christian schools, went to church through grade school and some in jr high, and claimed to be a Christian. I accepted Christ into my life at the age of five, but I didn't understand that I needed a relationship with him until I was 15.
I had a rare eye condition called acanthameba which blinded me for a little over three months. It was extremely painful, I couldn't see, couldn't go into any light, and I was totally isolated because of it. During those three months God remained faithful to me. He helped me to deal with daily life struggles, practical and spiritual, but at the end of three months I was done. I took a hard look at my life and confessed that I was totally in need of his gift of salvation. I asked him to come into my life and, if it was his will, to heal my eyes. The next morning I could see again.
Since then, I've had a lot of struggles and a lot of really good moments, but I know without a doubt that Jesus cares deeply for me and will remain faithful to me. He showed me what grace, love, and peace really are. He is still growing and teaching me daily, and I am so thankful for what he has already done in my life. I am totally excited to find out where he's taking me and how he's going to use me for his purposes.
